SUKAN MALAYSIA SUKMA>>


KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor prevented softball powerhouse Terengganu from grabbing both the medals at stake in the softball competition of the 14th Malaysia Games.
In the finals held at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) here today, Selangor took the gold in the men’s category after defeating Terengganu 6-1.
They had lost to Terengganu 3-4 in the preliminary round.
Selangor captain Mohd Syahmi Asrul Sani said after the defeat in the preliminary round, they reviewed their strategies for the final.
“We also did not unduly put pressure on ourselves. Maybe that helped us to win,” said the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia student.
Selangor were , however, whitewashed 4-22 by Terengganu in the women’s final.
Johor and Perak won the bronze in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
Meanwhile, Selangor also won the gold in the women’s handball event after they defeated Kedah 9-4.
Negri Sembilan took the bronze after defeating Perak.
